Anal Fissure Treatment Options

The anus is a relatively flexible body part, but sometimes large, hard bowel movements can stretch the anus beyond capacity and cause its lining to tear. This occurrence is known as an anal fissure. Constipation, straining, diarrhea, or inflammation of the anus may cause patients to produce these large, uncomfortable stools. Regardless, when the lining of the anus tears, patients may notice blood on their toilet paper after they wipe, as well as pain during their bowel movements.

Colon Cancer Awareness Month Q&A With WVCRSC – Part 1

West Valley Colon and Rectal Surgery Center is dedicated to providing the very best care in the field of colon and rectal surgery. Our surgeons, Drs. Hadi Najafian, and Sushil Pandey and Paravasthu Ramanujam are three leading colon and rectal surgeons who have been recognized in medical journals and textbooks, within community publications, and nationally by esteemed organizations.

For Colon Cancer Awareness, the team is taking the time to address common misconceptions and questions associated with colon cancer. Each week a new part of the interview will be released. Stay tuned!

Linda D.

I was very apprehensive about my upcoming colon surgery. However once I met Dr. Hadi Najafian my concerns were over. He took all the time in the world to make sure my husband and I totally understood the procedure and why I needed it. I found Dr. Najafian to have a great bedside manner - he is truly a caring and skilled Dr. I would highly recommend Dr. Najafian as a colon surgeon. He is very attentive, caring, and I couldn't be happier now that I am over the surgery.

Joe W.

Everything was A-1, I couldn't ask for better care. Dr. Pandey is easy to talk to, very considerate & responsive to our questions.

On-call phone service is great. They called back within 30 mins on a Saturday. Would recommend to my friends & family.

National Dress in Blue Day For Colon Cancer Awareness Month

Throughout the month of March, the West Valley Colon & Rectal Surgery Center team will celebrate National Colon Cancer Awareness Month. By bringing awareness to colon cancer, we aim to honor those suffering from the disease and celebrate how far the medical industry has come in developing treatment options. Furthermore, the most important goal our physicians want to achieve is encouraging others to get screened.

The Crohn’s Disease Diet

The cause of Crohn’s disease remains unknown to this day. The painful condition could be hereditary, autoimmune, or caused by environmental factors. However, even though little is known about the cause of Crohn’s disease, we do know how to treat it. The physicians at West Valley Colon and Rectal Surgery Center can prescribe medication or perform surgery if necessary, but patients can actually help manage their symptoms from home by changing their diet.

The Prevalence of Hemorrhoids

Hemorrhoids are a very common condition. In fact, over 75% of people get them at least once in their lives! It happens when the veins around the anus become irritated or even inflamed. Millions of Americans suffer from hemorrhoids each day, so our surgeons want patients to rest assured that the problems they are experiencing are common and certainly treatable.
